Donna Maria Bottomley

Donna Maria Bottomley is a British mental health therapist. She is the author of the non-fiction book Do I Need to See a Therapist? (2021) that explores how we can learn a different way of managing our emotions.

Donna Bottomley earned BSc and an MA in Psychology and Therapy from the University of Derby.

She runs a therapy practice and produces music for trauma therapies and well-being. Bottomley offers four different therapies (CBT, Brainspotting, EMDR, and Expressive Writing therapy).

Bottomley is currently studying for a Master of Music at the University of West London with a Music Production pathway.

Alongside therapy work, Donna Bottomley has been involved in creative writing projects and training since 2002. She specializes in writing about emotions and helping people manage their feelings through various methods, such as standard CBT therapies, expressive writing, and bilateral sound therapies.

In her debut book, Do I Need to See a Therapist?, Bottomley argues that therapy should be just as acceptable as seeing a GP or booking your car into the garage and needn’t be your last resort. In 2022, the book came out in the audio format.

Additionally, Donna Bottomley hosts a podcast that explores the relationship between emotions and sound.

Donna Maria Bottomley lives in Oswestry, England.

e cannot alter the fact that our brain makes predictions, but we can start to change why it predicts things in that way, and we can decide how we interpret the effects of that prediction.

Thank you for being so patient over the past year as I stressed about this book! You are my world and I love you very much.

I would also like to acknowledge the clients I have had the honour of sitting with over the years. You may think I have forgotten you but I have not. I often think of you and wonder how you are.
