Albert Moukheiber

Dr. Albert Moukheiber is a neuroscientist, clinical psychologist, co-founder of Chiasma and lecturer of Lebanese origin. He authored the nonfiction book Your Brain Is Playing Tricks On You (2022).

After earning a PhD in Neuroscience from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, and a Master's in Clinical Psychology from the Université Paris Cité, he spent a decade in the psychiatry department at the Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière.

As a clinician and lecturer at the University Paris 8, Moukheiber's impact extends to the forefront of cognitive science. Co-founding Chiasma, he pioneers the translation of research on cognitive biases into practical techniques, fostering critical thinking and mental flexibility.

In his debut book, Your Brain Is Playing Tricks On You, Dr. Moukheiber delves into the intricacies of human perception. Exploring questions of why we often cling to false beliefs and succumb to biases, he unveils the subjective nature of our mental reconstructions. It offers insights and practical tips to combat cognitive biases through psychosocial experiments and daily life examples.

Moukheiber's work becomes a beacon in an era dominated by information epidemics, urging readers not to blindly trust their thoughts and advocating perpetual self-doubt in navigating the complexities of the modern world.

Albert Moukheiber lives in Paris.

Without thinking, does the black figure seem to be facing us, or does it have its back to us? Are you above it, or below? You’re hesitating…

Now look at the image below: the individual clearly seems to be facing us, their elbows leant on the barrier, and they’re located above you. And now that you have this image in mind, look at the first version of the image again. The interpretation you make of it will copy the scenario that image (a) led you to see, and now the black figure appears to be facing you at a low-angle shot

brain, which shelters our knowledge, operates through estimates. The outcome is that our knowledge of things and of the world is always relative.
