David Fraser

General Sir David William Fraser, OBE (1962), KCB (1973)[1], GCB (1980), (born 30 December 1920) Vallenders, Isington, Alton, Hants, the only surviving son of Brigadier, The Honourable William Fraser (1890-1964) D.S.O., M.C., who was the military attaché at Paris, France, 1938-1939 when the Second World War begun. Sir David was educated at Eton and Christ Church college in the University of Oxford. He left school to enlist at earliest opportunity after the Second World War begun, and joined his father's regiment, the Grenadier Guards in 1940, serving for much of the Second World War with the Guards Armoured Division, later in North West Europe, ending the war in the rank of Major. In 1947 he married Anne Balfour-Fraser, a descendants of William I, but they divorced in 1952.He was intimately involved afterwards in the crises in Suez, and Cyprus, and saw service in the Malaya emergency.He is a past Major-General in the Grenadier Guards Regiment. Sir David served in the British Army, including as Vice Chief of the General Staff during 1972-74 in the rank of Lieutenant-General, until 1980. He is a prolific author of both fiction and non-fiction. Sir David is known to the British Army as "Razor Fraser".-Wikipedia
