Teaching Strategies to Motivate College Students

In the past, when arriving to a Multinational Company, I would take an entire month, at least, checking for every single thing, not only about my work, but the whole company. Afterwards, I could do any kind of work, twenty times faster than anyone else

We always need a strong base to make sure a company has a future, as much as a tree needs a strong root to grow and survive to any wind.

Not only personalities must be adjusted to a highly fast and changing world, but also the level of difficulty must be adjusted to what students can personally cope with.

Students must know that people’s time is valuable and they can’t get your attention when they want.

One of the biggest gaps between the real world and the academic world is that suddenly graduated students feel like they are being thrown at the lions without anyone telling them what to do all the time.

First of all, students don’t need to meet teachers to obtain answers to questions and, second, being inside a classroom or learning from videos previously created by the teacher is exactly the same.

As a matter of fact, why do students have to follow a schedule, when they can have 30 videos of classes to watch when they fell like it?

third perspective, we should know that space is as important as an instrument, so it doesn’t matter if a student is learning in a park, coffee shop or beach; as long as he has the instruments he needs to achieve the purpose expected from him. This includes not only laptops, but also iPads, Smartphones, and any other tool the student may find suitable.

We don’t need papers anymore; we live in a Technological world and students need to learn to type well and fast without blinking or looking twice at what they do.

Allowing students to bring laptops to class, to read, do assignments, research for concepts on the internet and take notes is very important.

Allowing students to study something they like will provide an opportunity to be wise and develop intelligence applied to results.

In college, this is related to making students research about topics that they are particularly curious about and not what the teacher wants.

Well, I’m not sure what is going to happen, but I will give you this medicine and then you come next week for me to check how it is progressing.”

...and yet, this is what we hear all the time.

People say...

“I don’t know how... but we will see...”

...as if life was all about luck and not a well-controlled society.

Are we all mad?

If most people actually believe that is all a matter of luck, why do we do what we do? Don’t we trust our own performance?

we live in a society that tends to complicate simple things because of a corrupt educational system.
