Where is God during our time of crises?
During the past year, our country has experienced terrorism, political disharmony, protests, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, floods, and insurrection. And now we have the Covid-19 pandemic; the kind of trouble no one anticipated. The Coronavirus has impacted the entire global community. Wear your face masks, shelter in place, and social distancing have become our new reality. Why should we do these things? Because this new storm in the form of a pestilence is raging. HELP is needed.
People are praying, “Hello God, are you out there? Are you listening anymore? Why are we going through this crisis? Is there hope? It is the personal belief of missionary and educator Marilyn James that beyond our reasoning and understanding, God is answering, “Yes,” and saying, “Look to me. I am very present with all the help you will ever need.”
Trouble and trials and the storms of life are everywhere. During trouble, we often need immediate help. The coronavirus pandemic highlights that desperate need. The ultimate help is to seek out the omnipotent and omniscient authority promised to humans in Psalm 46:1. “God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble.”
Know that no matter how bad the situation, God is very present. We are never alone in our troubles. There is always hope. God is listening intently to our every prayer and cry for help. Equip yourself with the knowledge of God's plan for your life.
