A to Z, Course in Miracles for Total Beginners

“Some of the ideas you will find hard to believe, and others you will find quite startling. This does not matter. You are merely asked to apply the ideas as you are directed to do. You are not asked to judge the ideas at all. It is their use that will give them meaning to you, and will showy you that they are true.”

The Course in Miracles.

Who Wrote the Course in Miracles

The Course in Miracles was written by Helen Schucman and William Thetford, Professors of Medical Psychology at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

Helen began to hear a voice, it started out saying, “This is a Course in Miracles.” Over the next seven years, she listened to the voice and wrote down what it told her to write.

The book itself, “The Course in Miracles,” is a very strange and challenging book. There are a set of 365 exercises that you can read each and everyday. I made the mistake of started with the exercises and not reading the almost 600 pages before the exercises. That was a big mistake. I missed a lot.

My suggestion to anyone interested in The Course in Miracles is to buy the full book, and start reading it page by page from the very beginning and take your time.

But do it. Skip to the back of the book and find the first exercise. Read the first one it says, “Nothing I see in this room, on this street, from this window, in this place, means anything.”

The second one says, “I have given everything in this room (or anything in my life) all of the meaning it has for me.”

The third lesson says, “I do not understand anything I see.”

I think it sound a bit trippy. It is trippy. The book questions everything that you believe about what you believe.

I have studied religion, many different types, for more than 30 years and this is the first way of life that actually made any sense.

Pretty much, it says that all there is is love every where. It says the world as we see it is insane so don't believe what you see. Sounds crazy, but if you pick the book up and start reading from page 1 to the end, you will have a very different point of view.

The Course in Miracles will tell you that you are perfect, you are extremely powerful, you are infinite and everlasting. You cannot die, never. It gets crazier than that.

There are a lot of Christians out there, so I thought I would kind of through out comparisons about how one group, the Unity Movement looks at things compared to the way the Course in Miracles looks at things.

Whatever, read through this and if you like the concepts then go out and buy, “A Course in Miracles.”

Warning with this reading!

As you move ahead, you will see the word Christ. Personally, I have always had a problem with the word. There are so many depictions of Christ and or Jesus that it just spoils all of the concepts that are important. In my summary, I use the word. In the book, “The Course in Miracles”, this word is never used. Never say never, you might find it once or twice in 1300 pages.

You might have to think a little weird to get around the concept. The Course in Miracles says that we are not bodies, we are energy. Imagine that. We are just energy with no race, sex, body parts, hair weaves, BMW's, social security numbers, political affiliations, just energy. This is what they say Christ is, positive, loving, energy that can understand the thoughts behind every language on the planet earth throughout time.

Just a tip.
